Energy Uses
Fuel wood
is the main source of energy in the
hills and is required both for cooking
and for heating, commercial fuels are
either nonexistent or are out of the
purchasing capacity of the masses. Even
the families that have access to
commercial fuels use fuel wood in their
daily pursuits. It therefore becomes
important to use energy carefully and to
put forth alternative energy option
before the masses rather than just
cursing the use of fuel wood and
justifying case in favor of a better
environment.
The GRASS has initiated the utilization
of the plants for application of power
for rural electrification, water lifting
and industrialization through
gasification. Pyrolysis of unutilized
biomass for charcoal preparation for
domestic and commercial uses have been
greatly appreciated and adopted by the
villagers.
